Terms of use

Daily Focus is free software, and you’re welcome to use it. These are the few terms that come with it.

Last updated 19 October 2026

The licence

Daily Focus is made by Thomas Watson and released under the MIT licence. You may use, copy, change and share it, for free, as that licence says. Nothing on this page takes any of that away.

Daily Focus is software you run on your own computer, not a service we run for you. There’s no account with us, no fee, and nothing of yours on a server of ours. How it handles your data is in the privacy policy.

Your accounts

Daily Focus works through accounts you hold elsewhere: Claude Code with Anthropic or Codex with OpenAI, the sources they reach through their connectors, such as your mail and chat, and whatever you connect in Daily Focus itself: GitHub, Jira, and a Google or Microsoft calendar. Their terms apply to how you use them, Daily Focus included, and keeping to them is up to you.

Connected calendars are only read. On GitHub and Jira, the one thing Daily Focus changes itself is a Jira ticket’s status, when you click to move it. The assistant can save an email draft for you; it never sends one.

What the AI writes

The brief, and the assistant’s answers and drafts, are written by AI. They can miss things, rank them wrongly or get details wrong. Check what matters before you act on it, and read every draft before you send it.

No warranty

As the MIT licence says: the software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and noninfringement. In no event shall the authors or copyright holders be liable for any claim, damages or other liability, whether in an action of contract, tort or otherwise, arising from, out of or in connection with the software or the use or other dealings in the software.

Changes and contact

If these terms change, the new version is posted here with a new date, and every earlier version is in the site’s history on GitHub.
